The Sri Lanka Government Technical Officers Union – Northern Province (SLGTOU–NP) had organized an exposure visit to the Cement Factory in Puttalam on Thursday, 19.03.2026, for 39 Technical Officers serving in various offices under the Northern Provincial Council.

The primary objective of this exposure visit was to enhance the knowledge of the technical staff on advanced cement manufacturing processes, industry standards, modern laboratory testing procedures, and quality control practices.

The factory had granted permission to conduct this visit on the said date from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

The management conducted a session to brief the participants on the manufacturing process, safety procedures, and other important matters. Following this session, the officers visited the plant production area under the guidance of the factory managers and observed the INSEE cement manufacturing process.

In addition, the participants visited the laboratories, monitoring unit, quality control unit, and the standard monitoring unit within the factory to gain further practical knowledge.

After the session, the group proceeded to the Aruwakadu raw material quarry, located approximately 43 km from the factory, where we observed the quarrying process before returning.

This visit was expected to broaden the technical expertise of the participating officers, strengthen our professional outlook, and motivate to perform our duties at work sites more effectively
